On 24 November, 2014 First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Nataliia Galibarenko participated in the jubilee summit of Prime Ministers of the member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI).
During the meeting the participants discussed a number of important programs and functional issues of the CEI for the entire 25-year period of its operation, and outlined the goals of the organization for the future, including the implementation of the CEI Action Plan for 2014-2016 years.
Nataliia Galibarenko informed in detail of the situation in the Donbas, the efforts of the Ukrainian side to meet Minsk agreements as well as priorities of the Ukrainian Government in the context of the course of the European integration.
The First Deputy Minister assured about the readiness of Ukraine to strengthen cooperation within the CEI, stressing the priority for our country to develop cooperation in the energy and transport sectors. The Government of Ukraine also intends to intensify cooperation with the Initiatives in the educational and scientific fields.
At the end of the Summit the CEI members approved the Joint Declaration, which defines the main directions and goals of the organization. The heads of the delegation stressed that international law and treaties must be adhered by all without exception, confirmed commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of each country participating in the Initiative.
During the meeting Memorandum of Understanding between the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative and the Permanent International Secretariat of the Council of the Baltic Sea, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative and international anti-corruption academy were also signed.
