On 16th June Foreign minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin took part in the inaugural meeting of MSC Core Group in Vienna – the gathering of the world’s leading politicians and analysts, dedicated to finding a way to stop the ongoing war against Ukraine.
In his keynote speech the minister stressed that Ukraine’s belonging to Europe is the central question of this war – which makes Europe much more than just an onlooker or even a mediator. He declared that Ukraine fights for her sovereign European choice – and as such is entitled to count not only on Europe’s compassion, but also on its solidarity.
In the ensuing discussion (based on the Chatham House rule), a majority of participants endorsed the Ukrainian statement and condemned Russia’s aggression on Ukraine.
In parallel, on the margins of the conference minister Klimkin met with his Austrian counterpart Sebastian Kurz, the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, the European commissionaire Johannes Hahn and others. He also gave interview to the Austrian ORF Radio.
